Richard Lee Shirey, 60, of Frenchville died on Friday, June 2, 2006 at his residence.
He was born on August 18, 1945 in Croft, a son of the late Blair R. and Mary (Maines) Shirey.
Mr. Shirey was employed with K and J Coal Co. until 1999. Prior to that, he worked for the former Cenco Construction.
He was Methodist by faith and had served in the US Army Reserves.
He was a member of the Leigey Renaud Post #8386 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Frenchville and the Mosquito Creek Sportsmen's Club.
On September 4, 1965 in LeContes Mills, he wed the former Diaan S. Smith, who survives along with two children, Dana Swisher and husband Dorey, of Frenchville, Michael Shirey and wife Michaelene of Watsontown, two grandchildren, Dylan Swisher and Emily Shirey, three sisters and a brother, Bessie Funari of Frenchville, Twila English and husband Blair of Dale, Erma Voss of Clearfield, Robert Shirey of Frenchville, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Gillingham Cemetery, Frenchville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM and on Tuesday from 10-11:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Lung Association of Northwest PA, 352 West Eighth Street, Erie, PA 16502.
