Robert C. Robbins, 79,of Clearfield died on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 17, 1939 in Clearfield, a son of the late William M. and Hazel (Litz) Robbins.
Bob retired in 2004 as the transportation coordinator for the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging. He had also been employed at Bennett Funeral Home, Clearfield for 15 years. In his leisure time, Bob loved to hunt, fish and spend time scouting for turkey. He took great pride in his garden, especially tending to his geraniums and cutting his grass with his tractor. He also enjoyed sports, coaching the champion Kurtz Brothers little league baseball team in 1984. Above all else, he loved and adored his family.
He was a lifetime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield as well as a life member of the Clearfield Fire Company #1, where he served as a past Fire Chief. Bob was also a member of the Clearfield American Legion. A veteran of the US Army, Bob was honored to serve his country and took great pride in guarding Rudolf Hess in Berlin, Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Carol J. (Hess) Robbins whom he wed June 2, 1962 at St. John Lutheran, Clearfield; four children, Robert C. Robbins Jr. and wife Markay E. of Philipsburg, Monica A. Smith and husband Eric M. of Clearfield, Susan C. Waite and husband Jeff L.of Ramey, and Michael M. Robbins and wife Christine C. of East Earl; eight grandchildren, Amanda Robbins and fiance Wesley, Sarah Lippert and husband Derek, Rebekah Robbins, Andrew Smith and wife Jessica, Steven Smith and wife Jenna, Christopher Waite, Evan Robbins, and Kyle Robbins; six great grandchildren, Lyric, Annalynn and Lilly Waite, Ava and Avery Smith, and Christian Harzinski; and two sisters, Connie Peoples and husband Barry of Clearfield, and Mitzie Walton of Butler.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and William Robbins; and two sisters, Margaret O'Link and Dolores 'Toss' Robison.
Funeral services will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield on Monday at 11 AM with Rev. Robert J. Way officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Post Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM and at the church on Monday from 10-11 AM.
