Robert Shiner

Robert D. Shiner, 81 of Clearfield died on Friday, October 27, 2006 at the Knickerbocker Villa, Clearfield.

He was born on October 6, 1925 in Hyde, a son of the late William M. and Bertha (Johnson) Shiner.

Mr. Shiner retired in 1991 from Clearfield Brake Drum and Equipment. Prior to that he operated Bob's Atlantic which later became Bob's ARCO. In addition, he was employed at the former Clearfield Dairy.
He served in the US Army during World War II and was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6.
He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield and also enjoyed bowling and golfing.

He is survived by his wife, Tina (Minute) Shiner, whom he wed September 23, 1950 in St. Francis Church, Clearfield; three children, Kathryn Tubbs and husband Harold of Meadville, William A. Shiner and wife Lou Ann of Clearfield, Susan McCusker and husband Richard of Montoursville and six grandchildren, Amanda Tubbs Nelms and husband Derek, Nicole Tubbs, Ashley Tubbs, Rebecca Shiner, Matthew Shiner and Andru McCusker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Lester Shiner.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1785.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 9-9:30 AM.

A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 7:45 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 S. Front Street, Clearfield, PA 16830 or to the charity of one’s choice.
