Rodney Dean Barrett, 82, of Curwensville, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Penn Highlands Elk Hospital in St. Marys, PA.
He was born at home on July 10, 1938 in Curwensville, PA, the son of the late William and Winnifred (Kelly)Barrett.
Mr. Barrett was sole owner of Diversified Mining Services, which later became a corporation, the Mahaffey Laboratory/DMS Safety Services. Prior to that, he had worked for Tafco in Hyde. Dean enjoyed hunting, fishing, ceramics and spending time with his family. He attended the First Baptist Church in Curwensville and was a member of Rotary International, Curwensville and an EMT for Curwensville Ambulance for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Margaret Ann (Wriglesworth); two children, Brian Dean Barrett (wife - Denise Wood) of Curwensville and Kimberly Sue Litz (husband - Darren) of Bradford, PA; four granddaughters, Erin Barrett, Briana Pincherri (husband - Troy), Brielle Plaisted (husband - Andy) and Ainslee Litz; his sister, Sue Connor (husband - Perry) and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Friends will be received on Monday, April 5, 2021 from Noon to 1:00pm, with a Celebration of Life service immediately following at the Beardsley Funeral Home & Crematory, Clearfield, PA.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First Baptist Church of Curwensville or the Mt. Carmel Church in Mahaffey, PA.
Pastor Daniel M. Osterhout will officiate the service and the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield is in charge of arrangements.
