Roger O. Menard, 76
of Clearfield, died peacefully Thursday, April 14, 2011 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh surrounded by his family.
He was born August 22, 1934 to Albert and Celinda Menard at Mooers Forks, New York.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Theresa H. Menard.
Roger is survived by his wife, Carol (Switala) Menard, his daughter Robin Menard of Pittsburgh, his son Roger P. (Kathy) Menard of Hollidaysburg and four beloved grandchildren; Andrew, Alison, Alec and Anthony.
In addition, he is survived by stepchildren Chris Switala, Jerry (Sherry) Switala and their children Elyse, Emily and Tessa.
He was the brother of Gerald (Norma) Menard, Francis (Pricilla) Menard, Leo (Minta) Menard, Doris (Bill) LePage and Leon (Carol) Menard. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College and was employed by Goodyear, Chrysler Corporation, Strattan Motor Company and Lee Industries, from where he retired after 19 years. He was also the owner of Menard Dodge and Menard Fiberglass Boats.
He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge #540, the Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy and was a charter member of the S.O.B.S. Roger was current and past president and a founder of the Antique Automobile Club of America – Central Mountains Region. He also was a member St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield where he served on the decorating committee and as an usher.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, 113 North Third Street, Clearfield on Monday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9-9:30 a.m.
At the funeral home on Monday, a Christian Vigil Service will be said at 1:45 PM, the rosary will be recited at 5:45 PM and the Elks memorial service will be held at 5:45 PM.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. Henry L. Krebs as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or to the charity of one’s choice.
