Ronald R. Bodle, 85, and the current 2020 Flamingo Open Champion, of Clearfield, died on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at UPMC Altoona of COVID.
He was born on October 26, 1935 in Philipsburg, a son of the late Norman Ralph and Grace S. (Wisor) Bodle.
Ron graduated from Philipsburg High School and had many jobs and careers over the years. He was currently employed for over 20 years at Irwin Service Station.
Ron enjoyed life. He especially loved and enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and great grandchildren - whether playing a round of golf, gathering sea shells at the shore, or just hanging out playing games. Ron served his community as a Little League Coach, Third Ward Borough councilman, Past President of the Jaycees, and as a past Exalted Ruler of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540, Clearfield. But he will be remembered most as the friendly guy with the colorful hats pumping gas at Irwin Service Station and tending the flowers. He enjoyed helping people, going the extra mile for those who needed it. His friendly smile and good nature will be missed.
He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540, Clearfield, where he served as a Past Exalted Ruler. He was also a member of the West Side United Methodist Church, Clearfield.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Eleanor G. (Williams) Bodle whom he wed on August 23, 1958; two sons, Kenneth Bodle and wife Dorothy, and Mark Bodle and fiance Barbara McCutcheon; four grandchildren, Michelle, Chris, and wife Amber, John and wife Jacquie, and Mark; five great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Parker, Haley, Grace, Makenna; two sisters, Pauline 'Boots' Dixon and Norma 'Tiny' Kerfoot; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Albert 'Abby' and Tim; and two sisters, Alberta 'Birdie' Fleck-Hargrove and Lavaughn Glosser.
Due to the COVID restrictions, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family Rev. Denise Haskins officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540, 301 North Second Street, Clearfield, PA, 16830 x-apple-data-detectors://9, or to the West Side United Methodist Church, 317 Nichols Street, Clearfield, PA, 16830 x-apple-data-detectors://10 .

Ron was in the hospital for one week with COVID. The family would like to issue their appreciation for the loving, compassionate care offered by four special nurses, among many others: Nancy and Jennifer (at Penn Highlands Clearfield) and Amanda and Mary (at UPMC Altoona).
