Rosella Carlson

Rosella M. "Honey" Carlson, 94, of Clearfield, died peacefully on Wednesday, November 30, 2011at Mt. Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Clearfield, after a long illness.

She was born on January 15, 1917 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late George and Orintha (Weimer) Mann.

Mrs. Carlson was employed by the former Brown's Boot Shop and the former Shugarts Shoes. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was involved with the Lutheran WELCA, serving as treasurer. Mrs. Carlson was also a member of the Coterie Club and a volunteer at the Clearfield Hospital. She was an avid pinochle player and belonged to a women's club that stayed together for over 50 years.

She is survived by two children, Mary Ann Geppert of Middleton, MD, and Ken Carlson and wife Carol, of Mars, PA; five grandchildren, Kimberly Geppert Waterworth, Gary Geppert, Marcia Geppert, Joely Carlson White and Angie Carlson Nacey; 10 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Richard Carlson, on March 9, 1987, whom she married on August 21, 1938 in Clearfield; a son-in-law, Timothy Geppert; two sisters, Ana "Lillian" McCorkle and Thelma Shaw; and three brothers, Blair, Carl, and Alton Mann.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield, on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Clearfield,

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday, December 9, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. And on Saturday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1454, Clearfield, or Joseph & Elizabeth Shaw Public Library, 1 S. Front Street, Clearfield.
