Rosemary Ickes, 82, a life long resident of Clearfield, passed away on January 24, 2025, in Hershey, PA. After her courageous ten-year battle with cancer, she passed peacefully surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Rosemary was born on September 19, 1942, the daughter of Carmen and Anna (Catino) Sturniolo.
A devout Catholic, Rosemary belonged to St. Francis Catholic Church in Clearfield, often attending mass daily. She was a Eucharistic Minister as well as a longtime member and band promoter for the St. Francis Rosary and Altar Society. She also was a dedicated volunteer at the Marian House and Life Line Pregnancy and Infant Services, both in Clearfield.
Her family was the most important focus of her life. While she stayed home to raise her children, she later worked part-time for the Clearfield Hospital and Kurtz Brothers. To relax, Rosemary loved going on week long family vacations to Hilton Head and Stone Harbor, entertaining friends around the backyard fire pit and gazebo, and reading a good book on her living room "perch" or on her swing along the banks of the Juniata River at her and Tom's cottage in Perry County. Rosemary had many creative talents that she enjoyed teaching her grandchildren - especially during their annual "Clearfield Vacation". Rosemary was an artist and avid tennis player. She also enjoyed sewing beautiful clothes, baking and cooking delicious Italian dishes, and selling antiques for years at her consignment store in Bedford, PA.
Rosemary is survived by: her husband of 61 years, Thomas Ickes, whom she wed May 4, 1963 at St. Francis Church; their children, Jodi (Jack) Raudenbush of Middletown, Mark (Brenda) Ickes of Hershey, and Christy (Scott) Perry of Dillsburg; four grandchildren, Brent (Elizabeth) Raudenbush, Katie (Justin) Henderson, and Ryenn and Mattea Perry; and her sister, Joanne (Michael) Geppert of Harrisburg. Rosemary was also very close to her husband Tom's brothers, sisters, and their spouses as well as her many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Joseph and John Sturniolo.
