Russell L Turner, 78 of Woodland died on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside Hospital.
He was born on March 24, 1930 in Woodland, a son of the late Leonard and Bessie (Putillion) Turner.
Mr. Turner was a truck driver all of his life retiring after 20 years from Al Hamilton Contracting.
He attended the Shiloh United Methodist Church.
Mr. Turner was a veteran of the US Army, having served during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Ryen) Turner, whom he wed November 21, 1953 in Clearfield; two daughters, Pamela K. Maines and husband Robert E. of Woodland, Joyce A. Robinson and husband William of Scenery Hill; four grandchildren, Kelley Hoffmaster and fiance' Charlie Rees of Frenchville, Lori A. Croyle and husband Chip of Winburne, Bobbi English and companion Stan Smochek of DuBois, William English of Easton; seven great grandchildren, Ashlee Pelton, Cori Hoffmaster, Todd Rees, all of Frenchville, and Devin, Brandon, Josh and Nicole Croyle all of Winburne; nine sisters and brothers, Norma Greene and husband Richard of Woodland, Harold Turner and wife Ella Mae of Lancaster, Ronald Turner and wife Judy of Curwensville, Shelby Ryen of Philipsburg, Gloria and husband John Passmore of OH, Brenda Shirey and husband Marvin of Woodland, Carol Henry and husband Barry of Woodland, Sandy Johnston and husband David of Woodland, Robert G. Turner and wife Sharon of Woodland and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Shirley Sleigh and a niece Sherry Greene.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at
2:00 P.M. with Rev. Thomas C. Lenker officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the Clearfield Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #1785 honor guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Saturday from
1-2:00 PM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church.
