Ruth E. Curry, 84, of Curwensville died on Sunday, September 28, 2008 at Clearfield Hospital.
She was born on July 27, 1924 in Penn Township, a daughter of the late John and Myrtle (Wriglesworth) Curry.
Miss Curry was employed as a secretary at Soult Wholesale Company. She also served as the secretary of Penn Township School Board until 1965 when she was elected Tax Collector of Penn Township. In addition, she was the secretary to the school doctor, Dr. John Arnold.
She was a member of the Hepburnia United Methodist Church where she was the Adult Class Sunday School teacher. She also served on the church's Administrative Council as Secretary, the United Methodist Women as President and the Board of Evangelism
She was a graduate of the Clearfield High School, Class of 1942, Vennard College, formerly the Chicago Evangelistic Institute, Class of 1947 with a degree in Missions and the DuBois Business College, Class of 1956.
She also was a member of the Cardiac Club.
She is survived by a sister and brother, Helen Addleman of Curwensville and Lex Curry, Sr. of Curwensville, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Pearl McFadden and Electa Cleaver, and three brothers, Charles, Ralph and Raymond Curry.
Funeral services will be held at the Hepburnia United Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Emmett Anderson officiating. Interment will follow in the Friends Cemetery, Grampian.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Curwensville on Tuesday from
2-4 & 6-8 PM and at the church on Wednesday from 10-11:00 AM
