Ruth J. Lunsford, 82
of Clearfield died on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Clearfield Hospital.
She was born on June 24, 1928 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Dominic and Nadeline (Vitolli) Macale.
Mrs. Lunsford was a local business woman and public servant.
She was the former owner of Lunsford’s Fish and Steak House, known and loved by generations of local youth.
With her husband Gene, she owned and operated the B60 Tavern for 15 years.
Avid in politics, she was her husband’s greatest supporter throughout his service as county controller and commissioner.
She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield where she was a hospitality greeter and past president of the Altar and Rosary Society.
She was also a founder and volunteer of Young People Who Care in Frenchville.
She was a Clearfield Hospital Volunteer for 47 years and a St. Francis Cafeteria volunteer for 7 years.
In addition, she was a Second Ward Council Woman.
Mrs. Lunsford also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Gene T. Lunsford, whom she wed July 16, 1950 in Passaic, New Jersey
two sons, Gene Tunney Lunsford, Jr. and wife Susan of Federal Way, WA and Bradley Peter Lunsford and wife Susan of State College, two grandchildren, Ryan Lunsford and Madison Lunsford and a sister, Della Sabolefski of Orlando, FL.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Rosemary Lunsford, a sister Renata Macale, and three brothers, Joseph John Macale, Renardo Macale, and Leonard Macale.
Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Monday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 2-5:00 PM and on Monday from 9-9:30 AM
On Sunday at the funeral home, a Christian Vigil Service will be held at 1:45 PM and the rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM.
