Samuel J. "Dutchie" Mollica, 85

of 1216 Daisy Street, Clearfield died on Thursday, December 23, 2004 at Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on December 19, 1919 in Clearfield, a son of the late Calogero 'John' and Josephine (Ortasiceo) Mollica.

Mr. Mollica, along with his wife, owned and operated the Ponderosa Steak House, DuBois since February 12, 1979. From 1957 until February 2003 he was the owner of the DuBois One Hour Cleaners. In addition, he was a principal owner of the DuBois Consumer Discount Company and previously was employed at the former Harbison-Walker Refractories from 1937 until 1980.
A 1937 graduate of the Clearfield Area High School, Mr. Mollica was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, and a Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus Clearfield Council #409. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6. He was also a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #540, Clearfield, the Culinary Federation Club and the Clearfield Sons of Italy Lodge where he served as past president and past state trustee. He was past president of the DuBois Kiwanis Club and the DuBois Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Rockton Fire Company. Mr. Mollica was a chairman on the Clearfield Municipal Authority for two terms and was a former board member of both the Clearfield-Jefferson Community Mental Health Center and the Salvation Army. He was an avid supporter of the 4-H Auctions and enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing and hosting many get-togethers at his summer home in Rockton.

He is survived by his wife, Reba C. (Head) Mollica, whom he married November 11, 1945 in Georgia, five children,

a godchild,

and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son Carl James Mollica, a brother Anthony Mollica and sisters Marian 'Tillie' Mollica and Rose M. Marrara.

Mass of Christian Burial will be said at St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. with Msgr. H. Desmond McGee, Jr. as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post 6 Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday from
2-4 & 6-9 PM.

A Christian Vigil Service will be held at the funeral home on Monday at 1:45 P.M.
