Santo Toto

Santo R. Toto, 89, of Clearfield died on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.

He was born on November 1, 1927 in Messina, Italy, a son of the late Samuel and Carmella (Giuffre) Toto. At the age of three, Santo came to America with his mother and sister, the late Josephine Pasquariello.

Mr. Toto was employed at Harbison Walker for 38 years until July 1984 when the plant closed. He also worked for Kurtz Brothers part time for 5 years. Mr. Toto will be remembered for his authentic Italian cooking and ability to make delicious sausage. He will sadly missed by all who knew him, especially his loving family.
He was a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield, the Clearfield Sons and Daughters of Italy and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Clearfield.

He is survived by his wife, Angeline (Oreka) Toto whom he wed September 15, 1951 in Weedville; four children, Samuel Toto and wife Margaret of Clearfield, Carmella Taylor and husband Timothy of Clearfield, Christine Gardner and husband Richard of Clearfield and Cynthia Romansky and husband Robert of Australia; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Jean Young of Clearfield; and two brothers, James Toto and wife Honey of State College and John Toto and wife Anna Marie of Clearfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandora Young and Josephine Pasquariello.

Mass of Christian burial will be said at the St. Francis Catholic Church, Clearfield on Saturday at 10 AM with Fr. Brandon Kleckner as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Clearfield.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday from 6-8 PM and on Saturday from 9-9:30 AM.

At the funeral home on Friday, the Rosary will be recited at 5:30 PM and a Christian Vigil Service will be held at 5:45 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. Francis Educational Endowment Fund, 212 South Front Street, Clearfield.
