Shirley E. Irwin, 89, of Curwensville passed away and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, December 24, 2021 at the Penn Highlands Clearfield.
She was born on February 22, 1932 in Nanty Glo, a daughter of the late Victor and Hannah (Smith) Bensor.
She graduated in 1950 from Nanty Glo High School where she was the valedictorian.
Mrs. Irwin retired from the Clearfield Cheese Plant after working there for over 30 years.
She was a member of Cherry Corner Bible Church
She is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Irwin) Hoyle of Curwensville; three sons, Fred, David, and Brian Irwin all of Curwensville; six grandchildren, Jacqueline Smith, Travis Smith, Levi Smith, Erica Warfield, Jessica Irwin, and Seth Irwin; four great grandchildren, Kaelyn Warfield, Korinne Warfield, Sidney Lansberry, and Travis Smith Jr.; one great great grandchild, Ellie Lansberry; a brother, Bill Bensor; two sisters, Marjory Tiller, and Hannah Barrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frederick Irwin on March 11, 2019 and whom she wed October 22, 1955 in Winchester, VA. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Mona Irwin; five sisters, Martha Solley, Marie Thomas, Venna Sape, Sibbie Bloom, and Arbutus Irwin; and two brothers, Robert Bensor and George Bensor.
A private graveside service will be held at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville with Pastor George Solley officiating.
Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Curwensville is in charge of the arrangements.
