Shirley I. Rowden, 79, of Clearfield died on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at her home.

She was born on October 11, 1935 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late Joseph and Sara (Hite) Mabie.

Mrs. Rowden retired from Target Sportswear and had been always highly regarded for her hard work ethic and dedication. Above all else, she loved her family, especially spending time with her sisters who were her best friends. She also had a special love for her dog, Holly.

She is survived by three children, Fred Rowden and wife Laurie of Valparaiso, IN, Patty Cates and husband Geoffrey of State College and Tina Hockenburry and husband Fred of Philipsburg; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Rowden and Geoffrey II, Tiffany and Brooke Cates; a great granddaughter, Victoria Maldonado; her sisters and best friends, Carol Elensky and Bob of Curwensville and Virginia Daub and husband Bill of Hyde; a brother, Robert Mabie and wife Linda of Clearfield; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Ray Rowden; and her brother, Allen Mabie.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11 AM with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Centre Cemetery, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9-11 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to American Heart Association, 501 Howard Avenue, Suite D. Altoona, PA 16601 or to the Society for the Prevention of the Cruelty to Animals, 275 21st Street, Clearfield.
