Ventnor, New Jersey - Steven Duane Wingard, 47, of Ventnor, New Jersey died Monday, November 3, 2008 at Ventnor.
Born March 17, 1961 in Clearfield, he was the son of Shirley (Carns) Wingard of Clearfield and the late Philip R. Wingard.
Mr. Wingard was a graduate of Atlantic City High and served as an air crew member in the U.S. Navy. His job included maintenance of airborne electronic, mechanical and ordnance delivery systems. Following his naval service, he worked in the telecommunications field for Agency Telecommunications of Bellmawr, New Jersey as a systems installer.
Steve was an avid golfer and was the past president of his golf club.
He was Protestant by faith.
In addition to his mother, Steven is survived by a daughter, Samantha D. Wingard of Linwood, NJ; a brother David A. Wingard and his wife Shelly, and their children, David Jr., Michael, and Kimberly of Medina, OH, and the following aunts and uncles: Mrs. Susan Wingard of Curwensville, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Beynon of FL, Mr. C.H. Ruof, Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Williams, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ralston, all of Clearfield, Mrs. Clara McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Carson, all of Pittsburgh and numerous cousins.
Mr. Wingard was preceded in death by his grandparents; Lowery and Twila Gearhart Wingard, William and Mary Blanche Carns, and uncles, William Wingard, Robert McGregor, Philip Armstrong; and aunts, Catherine (Carns) Ruof and B. Ellen (Carns) Armstrong.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Dr. Joleen A.Willis of the West Side United Methodist Church officiating. His uncle, Dr. Fred Ralston, will assist in the service.
Interment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Curwensville.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the Clearfield VFW Post #1785 Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10-11 a.m.
