Teresa Potter

Teresa A. Potter, 81, of Karthaus died on Friday, May 21, 2010 at Clearfield Hospital.

She was born on December 6, 1928 in Karthaus, a daughter of the late Norman B. and Esther (Renaud) Rougeux.

Mrs. Potter served as Karthaus Township tax collector for 20 years. Also, she was employed at Curtiss-Wright Lodge, Quehanna and as a waitress at the Quehanna Motor Lodge, Karthaus for 14 years.

She was a member of the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Frenchville and a longtime member of the Karthaus Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She served as the Democratic Chairwoman in the Karthaus area for many years. Mrs. Potter volunteered with the American Red Cross Blood Mobile, Clearfield County Book Mobile and the American Cancer Society.

She is survived by four children, Janet Klees and companion, Nelson Miller, of Karthaus, Linda Meeker and husband, Bruce, of Moshannon, Joseph Potter and wife, Ann, of Karthaus and James W. Reese and companion, Dorothy Gaines, of Karthaus; seven grandchildren, Brett Klees and wife, Stacey, of Alexandria, Va., Renee Meeker Espenshade and husband, Tom, of Treasure Lake, Donald Meeker and wife, Krisy, of Woolrich, Melissa Umbenhouer and husband, Brett, or Moshannon, Jared Potter of Karthaus, Dana Wolfe and wife, Nikki, of St. Mary's and A.J. Reese of Karthaus; fourteen great-grandchildren; a long-time companion, Philip Reese of Karthaus; a sister and brother, Martha Joyce Rougeux of Polk and Kenneth M. Rougeux and wife, Margaret, of Karthaus; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dalten R. Potter on November 5, 1964 and whom she wed July 20, 1946 in Frenchville; an infant daughter, Joyce Ann; and a sister, C. June Jury.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 10 a.m. with Rev. Samuel G. Bungo officiating.

Interment will follow in the Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9-10 a.m. A Christian vigil service will be recited at the funeral home on Tuesday at 5:45 p.m.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's Association, Greater PA Chapter, 100 W. Station Square, Suite 500, Pittsburgh; the Centre County PAWS, 1401 Trout Road, State College, PA 16801; or the Orphans of the Storm, in care of Peggy Sass, 223 Hill Street, Clearfield, PA 16830.
