Theodore N. 'Ted' Herman, 80

of Hyde died on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at his home.

He was born on August 14, 1931 in Woodland, a son of the late Nathan and Dorothy (Peters) Herman.

Ted retired from DomTar Chemicals, Ridgway and had previously been employed with Lingle Coal Co. Ted liked to play the steel guitar and performed with his band 'Wild Country'. He enjoyed listening to country music, particularly Hank Williams and George Jones. He also liked fishing and watching sports.
Ted served with the U. S. Army from 1948 - 1950 and was a member of the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1785.

He is survived by his wife, Geraldine (Martell) Herman whom he wed December 31, 1986 in Clearfield, six children, Gerald and wife Tommie Sue of Everson, Sylvia and husband Will of Philipsburg, Geri and companion Chuck of Clearfield, Blair of Clearfield, Dolly and husband Donald of Frenchville, Beth and husband Robert of TX; eight grandchildren, Sara, Ashley, Nikki, Latasha, Cody, Gerald Jr., Kyle, Kayla; a great-granddaughter, Serenity; and a step-sister and step-brother, Ramona Nelson and Russell Hurley of Hyde.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, a brother and his dog, Tank.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Friday at 11:00 am with Pastor Timothy Guyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the funeral home by the members of the Clearfield American Legion and VFW Posts Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8:00 PM and on Friday from 10-11:00 AM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Southern Care-Hospice, 206-A Falcon Lane, Altoona, PA 16602.
