Tillie M. McCartney, 92, of Grampian died on Friday, October 20, 2023 at the DuBois Nursing Home.
She was born on January 31, 1931 in Grampian, a daughter of the late Harry and Alice (Cleaver) Mathews.
Mrs. McCartney attended the Curwensville School District and then shortly after being married, she began employment at Airplane Marine in Hyde. She had also worked in the Curwensville High School cafeteria and was an in-home caregiver. She loved to collect anything pertaining to elephants and chickens.
She is survived by four children, William McCartney Jr. and wife Edie of Treasure Lake, Bruce McCartney and wife Gwen of Kerrmoor, LuAnn Aughenbaugh and husband James of Curwensville, and Keith McCartney and wife Lisa of DuBois; eight grandchildren, Jerry McCartney and wife Tina, Mike McCartney, Amanda Harris and husband Dan, Amy McCartney and companion Dave McCombs, Alicia Holland and husband Rob, Travis Aughenbaugh and wife Dodie, Joshua McCartney and wife Becki, and Nicole Gallagher and husband Joe; twenty five great grandchildren; two great great grandsons; two sisters, Edie Levin of Glen Richey and Bertie Madera of NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William J. McCartney Sr. on August 30, 2016. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles 'Buddy' Ray McCartney; a great grandson, Carter McCartney; a sister, Janet Hall; and a brother, Ray Mathews.
Funeral services will be held at the Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, Clearfield (please note the Clearfield location due to the ongoing construction on State Street in Curwensville) on Thursday at 11 AM. Mrs. McCartney will be buried next to her husband at St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Grampian.
Friends will be received at the funeral home in Clearfield on Wednesday from 4-8 PM and on Thursday from 10-11 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Beardsley Funeral Home and Crematory, 815 State Street, Curwensville, PA 16833.
