Valerie 'Jeanie Bug' Peterson , 56, of Lecontes Mills died on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born on September 29, 1957 in Philipsburg, a daughter of the late Floyd, Sr. and Dorothy J. (Lawrence) Martell.

Jeanie enjoyed raising her kids and being known to everybody else as 'Mama Jean'. Jeanie also cherished her role as a grandmother and enjoyed needlepoint, traveling to the ocean and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys. She was always wearing a smile, knew no strangers and will be remembered as the best wife a man could ask for. She was a member of Congress Hill United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Peterson whom she wed July 19, 2011; four children, Nicole Cash and husband Chris Sr. of Lillington, NC, Michael Bennett Jr. of Lillington, NC, Joseph Bennett of Virginia Beach, VA and Dorothy Jean Bennett of Virginia Beach, VA; two grandsons, Daryl Reeder III and Chris 'C.J.' Cash Jr.; eight brothers and sisters, Bertha Swisher of Frenchville, Mildred Conway, Floyd 'Butch' Martell Jr. of Lecontes Mills, Cathy Henney of Lecontes Mills, Bill Martell of Surveyor, Linda Green of Birdsnest, VA, Janet Cole of Lecontes Mills and Jeff Martell of Clearfield.

There will be no public visitation or services.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, 113 North Third Street, Clearfield.
