Veronica M. Evans

Veronica Marie (Jenkins) Evans peacefully passed away on March 24, 2025 at the home of her daughter, Carolyn Merling.

Veronica, or Abbey as most knew her by, was born on October 26, 1955 to Chester and Veronica (Heggarty) Jenkins. She was a graduate of Saint Francis Catholic School and the Clearfield County Career and Technical Center where she studied to become a licensed practical nurse. Abbey spent the entirety of her career as an LPN at Christ the King Manor in Dubois. She particularly enjoyed working in the memory support unit there.

After her retirement, Abbey enjoyed spending time with her three children and eight grandchildren. She loved to travel, especially to visit family in Washington, Alaska, Montana, and Kentucky. Summers at the Jersey Shore were always a highlighted memory. Abbey was always up for a road trip to see a new sight or try out a new restaurant. Those who knew and loved her appreciated her quick wit and dry humor.

Abbey was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Kathleen (Jenkins) Spilovoy, and partner Gary Smeal.

She is survived by her brother John Jenkins (Nancy) of Alaska; sister Carol (Jenkins) Kirby of Montana; son Aaron (Arika); Carolyn (Evans) Merling; and son Paul Evans all of Clearfield. She is also survived by her grandchildren Albany Clark, Jennica Evans, Rileigh Merling, Piper Evans, McKenna Evans, Aemon Evans, Annalise Evans, and Cooper Evans.

There will be a celebration of life held at a later date.

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to 365 Hospice.
