Virginia M. Sager (July 21, 1927 - September 3, 2021)
Virginia Maxine Larimer Sager passed away on September 3, 2021, at age 94. Daughter of Herbert and Mary Larimer, she was one of seven children and is survived by her sister, Mrs. Louise Martin of Florida. Preceding her in death were her parents Herbert and Mary, stepmother Mildred Larimer, and brothers Richard, Gray, Kenneth, Dale, and Charles “Rusty” Larimer.
A member of the Greatest Generation, she met her future husband, James M. Sager (1923-2012) at age 17, and they married before he shipped off to the Philippines with the US Army during World War II. They were happily married for 67 years. James was her hero.
A graduate of Bellefonte Area High School, Virginia went on to a wonderful career working at White Rock Limestone Company, the Centre Democrat newspaper, People’s Bank, and the Bellefonte Police Department.
Virginia raised three capable and independent daughters, who survive: Susan Rightnour (Terry) of Clearfield, PA, Karen Sheridan (Joseph) of Boxford, MA, and Cindy Adams (Lloyd) of Birmingham, AL. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Charlotte Larimer of Bellefonte.
Dear to her heart were her five grandchildren: Megan Rightnour of Clearfield, PA, Matthew Rightnour of Charlotte, NC, Grant Adams of Chicago, IL, Ryan Adams of Cary NC, and Jared Adams of Birmingham, AL. They all enjoy and dearly remember many stories of growing up with their kind and gracious “Nanny.”
Nine great grandchildren became part of Virginia’s circle of love: Jude Pallo, Matthew Pallo, Luke Pallo, Ty Rightnour, Ryan Rightnour, Norah Adams, Andrew Sager Adams, Ghaleon Adams, and Felix Adams. Never one to miss her Grands and Great Grands’ adventures, Virginia managed to attend football games, basketball tournaments, soccer matches, wrestling meets, dance recitals, cheerleading competitions, video game battles, and food eating competitions in her personal kitchen.
Part of Virginia’s world included her beloved dogs over the years: Chou, Misty, and Beau. Roly polys one and all, the dogs kept her great company despite their many humorous eccentricities.
The family wants to thank the staff of Colonial Courtyard of Clearfield for their excellent care of Virginia for the last 3 years.
A life long member of the First Presbyterian Church of Bellefonte, the family requests donations be made to the church in lieu of flowers, or to a charity of your choice. The church is located at 203 N Spring St, Bellefonte, PA 16823.
The family will plan a private memorial service at a future date.
