Wanita M. Wilson, 85, of Clearfield died on Friday, January 27, 2012.
She was born on June 12, 1926 in Clearfield, a daughter of the late William S. and Alice (Amon) Wilson.
Mrs. Wilson was employed as a private duty care nurse and prior to that had been employed by the former General Cigar for twenty years.
She was a member of the Lake Street United Methodist Church, Woodland and formerly a member the Women of the Moose, Clearfield Chapter #0948. She was also a former member of the ladies auxiliaries of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 812, the Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1785, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post No. 6 and the Third Ward Hose Co. In addition, she was a past member of the Mount Joy Grange.
She is survived by three daughters and a son, Barbara Hoover of Pine Glen, Vivian Moskel of Clearfield, Mary Louise Pittman of Albuquerque, NM and Franklin Wilson of Curwensville; 7 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Wilson on October 10, 1981; three sisters, Mabel Miller, Vivian McGonigal and Freda Henry and five brothers, Doyle, Richard, George, Weaver and Herbert Wilson.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Bradford Cemetery, Woodland.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 – 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, PO Box 550, Clearfield.
