Ward James Miller, 88, of Clearfield died on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at his home.
He was born on May 31, 1924 in Clearfield, a son of the late William and Elizabeth (Ives) Miller.
Mr. Miller retired from the Warren State Hospital where he was employed in the maintenance department. He was a member of Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1785 and served with the United States Army during World War II and the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah (Manaham) Miller whom he wed February 7, 1970 in Warren; five children Norma Hadely, Lewis Maines, Robin Harris all of FL, Mary Grumblatt and husband Mont of Clearfield and Donna Singletary of IA; seventeen grandchildren; two great granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Maines and sixteen brothers and sisters. Mr. Miller was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11:00 am with Rev. Kenneth J. Leonard officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield VFW and American Legion Posts Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9-11 AM.
