Ward Smith

Ward L. Smith, 95, of Clearfield died on Friday, May 2, 2008 at Clearfield Hospital.

He was born on September 4, 1912 in Clearfield, a son of the late Frank P. and Pearl (Rhone) Smith.

Mr. Smith owned and operated Smith's Camera Shop in Clearfield for many years.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield where he served on Church Council, as head of the Property Committee and belonged to the Friendship Club.
He was also a member of the Clearfield Lions Club and served in the US Army during World War II.

He is survived by four children, Karen Fry and husband Jeff of Manheim, Donna Grzelak and husband Jeff of Pewaukee, WI, John Troxell and wife Suzanne of Clearfield and Dick Troxell and wife Judy of Clearfield; 9 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Adolphus Smith of Clearfield, Lester Smith of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Miriam A. (Latshaw) Smith in 1959 and whom he married in 1936, his second wife, Pauline W. 'Polly' (Turner) Smith on April 24, 2007 and whom he married July 15, 1962 and sisters Beryl Billotte and Mona Bell.

Funeral services will be held at the St. John Lutheran Church, Clearfield on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Matthew C. Holbert officiating. Interment will be in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday from 6-8:00 PM.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to St. John Lutheran Church, 217 East Pine Street, Clearfield PA 16830.
