Wayne D. Conklin, 85
of 604 Hannah Street, Clearfield died on Thursday, March 31, 2005 at Clearfield Hospital.
He was born on April 18, 1919 in Clearfield, a son of the late Harry H. and Emma (Linsenbigler) Conklin.
Mr. Conklin retired from Harbison Walker Refractories after 45 years of service.
He was past state president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, a member of the Old Town Sportsmen's Club, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6, the Free and Accepted Masons and the Altoona Consistory.
A veteran of the US Army, he served during World War II.
He is survived by his wife, Mary A. (Balough) Conklin, whom he married January 21, 1950 in Pittsburgh, a brother, Robert A. Conklin and wife Joyce of Clearfield and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Carl, Allen, Ai, Jim and Leslie Conklin and sisters, Mae Price, Flora O'Donnell and Margaret 'Peg' Harmic.
Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Monday at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Jay E. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.
Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and the Clearfield VFW Post #1785 Honor Guard.
Friends will be received at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Sunday from 7-9 PM and on Monday from 10 - 11:00 AM.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to charity of one's choice.
