William Robbins

William R. Robbins, 81, of Clearfield died on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at his residence.

He was born on April 13, 1926 in Clearfield, a son of the late M. William and Hazel (Litz) Robbins.

Mr. Robbins was a mechanic and co-owner of Robbins Motors, Clearfield for 53 years.
He was a member of the Clearfield Curwensville Beagle Club having served as the secretary/treasurer. He was also a member of the Old Town Sportsmen’s Club, the Clearfield American Legion John Lewis Shade Post #6 and the National Rifle Association.
William enjoyed hunting, fishing and marksmanship competitions.
A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and was part of the L.S.T. Flotilla during the Normandy Invasion.

He is survived by his wife, Levina Teresa (Shifter) Robbins, whom he wed April 18, 1947 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Frenchville; six children, Dan Robbins and wife Janet of DuBois, Joe Robbins and wife Betty of Woodland, Phil Robbins and wife Lisa of Clearfield, Don Robbins and wife Diane of Rockton, Elaine Matlack and husband William of New Millport and Doug Robbins and fiance` Kim Kelly of Clearfield;
11 grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; 8 step-great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters, Harold Robbins and wife Delores of Clearfield, Robert Robbins and wife Carol of Clearfield, Connie Peoples and husband Barry of Clearfield and Mitzie Walton and husband Frank of Butler; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters Margaret O'Link and Dolores 'Toss' Robison and a nephew Christopher Walton.

Funeral services will be held at the Kevin A. Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 1:00 P.M. with Rev. Rodger J. Gorton officiating. Interment will follow in the Crown Crest Memorial Park, Hyde.

Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the members of the Clearfield American Legion Post #6 and Clearfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 1785 Honor Guard.

Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM and on Saturday from 12:00 - 1:00 PM

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Clearfield Foundation for Health - Hospice, PO Box 992, Clearfield or to the American Cancer Society, 26 S. Second Street, Clearfield.
