William G. Shaffer , 83, of Tonawanda, NY, died on Sunday, October 27, 2013.
He was born on October 18, 1930 in Ashland, a son of the late John and Ruth Shaffer.
Mr. Shaffer retired from the General Motors Plant in Tonawanda, NY in 1996, after 41 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, traveling and took great pride in caring for his vehicles. He also cherished his time spent with his family.
He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Leigey Renaud Post 8386, Frenchville and served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict.
He is survived by his daughter, Kristina Marie Noworyta and husband Mark of Tonawanda, NY; two grandchildren Sara Ann and Jeffrey William; three brothers, Lester and wife Julia, Joe and wife Lynn and Carl; and a sister, Norma; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann (Dunlap) Shaffer on May 17, 2013. He was also preceded in death by three brothers Kenneth, Robert and Eugene.
A memorial service will be held at the Kevin A Beardsley Funeral Home, Clearfield on Saturday at 10 AM with Rev. David A. Perry Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Frenchville.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Friday from 5 -7 PM and on Saturday from 9-10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice Buffalo, 225 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga, NY 14227.
