All the little things...

I don't have a specific story about Wally, just lots of little treasured memories. I enjoyed watching his relationship with Miss Moe (and Moe before her) - those cats loved him so much! He was always kindly and good-naturedly protective of them whenever I would tease them. :-)  I respected how he stubbornly insisted on continuing to mow his yard well after Marty would have gladly taken over that responsibility. I'll miss his warm and kind presence on holidays in the Duttry house. Most of all I'll miss how lovingly and quickly he welcomed my brother and I into the Duttry family, immediately treating us like one of his own grandchildren. I never felt out of place or like an outsider in the Duttry house, not even once. I know that when I return home from the holidays, the true gravity of his loss will hit me when I see that empty chair. I'll truly miss all the love and warmth that came from that chair's occupant. Wally was an incredible, kind, generous, and wonderful grandfather - no "step" needed.
