Mom, sometime ago when I took you for an outpatient procedure, probably 10 or so yrs ago, I wrote this in the waiting room. I did read it to you one day, and I'm going to share it again now. When you are born, you come to love your parents because they are the ones that care for you, protect you, provide food and shelter and love you unconditionally. It's inherent, not a choice really to love our parents. As we grow, it becomes a choice. Do we like our mom and dad? Do we want to grow up to be like them? Are there traits that we would rather not inherit? Well mom, as I've grown up, I've come to realize that you're okay. And I hope to become more like you. Your willingness to try new things. Your ability to see the big picture. Your open mindedness and you choose not to judge others. You always reached out to stay in touch with family, both young and old (you rarely ever forgot a birthday or anniversary). Your faith and how you lived it. These are just a few of your attributes that I hope I can develop and make a part of my character. I love you mom and thank you for being the best mom that I could have had (and probably one of the few that could tolerate me). Thank you for being willing to share the best parts of you with me. I miss you. Mary
